Father Peter Prusakiewicz CSMA
“It is a great privilege to be a patron of the Global Children's Foundation. Since 2005 I have overseen all the charity's achievements in Poland, where the origins of this Foundation began. Since 2006 we have brought many people to the orphanage in Czestochowa, Poland to witness the good works. The visit has become part of our annual UK Divine Mercy pilgrimage. This has led to many other deeds and actions in different countries in the world.”
The concept of the Global Children's Foundation has its origins in two visits that Noreen made to an orphanage in Czestochowa, Poland run by Our Lady Sisters of Mercy in October 2004 and another in Pralkowce, also in Poland in February 2005.
During the second visit Noreen was inspired by the work of Bl.Fr Bronislaus Markiewicz, the founder of the Congregation of St Micheal the Archangel (CSMA) and this proved to be the springboard for her wanting to help children in Poland and other countries.
Co-founder Brian Ripley was inspired by Noreen's fundraising activities and during a conversation they shared in January 2006, he challenged Noreen to think even bigger - and so she did. The end product of this conversation sowed the seeds for an idea of a global charity, which they decided to call the Global Children's Foundation.
Neither Brian nor Noreen could ever have expected the amount of support and great works that have been accomplished.
As time goes on, GCF has received support from our friends from many communities and walks of life, all with the common aim of wanting to help make a difference.
IT Project Manager at BP
“I am helping GCF as I want to make a difference to the lives of the children around the world who aren’t as privileged as many others. GCF chooses projects that will not only help children immediately, but will also make changes that will have a positive knock on effect for future generations, this is very important to me. A small amount of time and effort from us can have a huge impact on the happiness and hope of children worldwide, this is our focus, and makes me passionate about working for GCF.”
IT Director IT&S Functions BP
“I am passionate about the mission of the GCF to help children in need and are very supportive of its international focus. With the GCF I feel that we are helping children in countries with limited or no such social networks and that the impact of the GCF projects provides a very significant improvement to children's lives.”
Former IT Project Manager at BP
“It is better to give than to receive. What can be more satisfying than knowing that you are actually improving the life of a child and giving them hope. I am grateful to have the opportunity to do that through the GCF.”
Richard Da Costa
Former BP Architect
“My enthusiasm for being involved with GCF stemmed from my relationship with one of the founders, Noreen Bavister. Her big heart inspired me and helped to make me think beyond my own safe little world. This made me realise that we are all connected, we are all family. Helping children (in particular, or anybody in general) is a fulfilling pursuit in itself. I am grateful to have the opportunity to make a small contribution to GCF, which in turn will make a significant difference to Children in need, wherever they are in the world. I feel so privileged to be a part of this Foundation.”
